Recently I've been taking pleasure in the little things again and it really is very therapeutic, so why not sit back, relax, and take a moment to smell the roses with me.
Speaking of which....
1. Flowers.
Annie mentioned the other day how she had bought some reduced price flowers and cobbled together a few displays for herself. 'Hey, even I could do that' I thought, eyeing up the pennies on the windowsill. Ten minutes later and I had my own bargain price pockets of loveliness all over the house.
2. Good Booze
I treated myself to the nice stuff. Well you've gotta be good to yourself right?
Sipping on this is like drinking a glass of everything-is-going-to-be-alright.
3. Winter nights
Ok we may be heading into spring but I have never drawn so much pleasure from pulling my chair up in front of a big fire, sticking a boxset on and forgetting the world for an hour (or two - I mean who watches just one episode when you have a whole series at your disposal?). For once in my life I think I'll miss the cold dark nights this year.
4. A clear house
There's nothing like two international house moves in five months to get to the real bare bones of what you need. Clothes, toys, furniture, crap, crap and more crap have been offloaded and I am operating a strict one in - one out policy from now on.
After all - who actually needs toys?
5. My own time
I love my kids but having a little bit of space for the first time in nine years feels real good. The batteries get recharged, the patience levels return to positive, the house gets tidied and I'd like to think I'm a better mother for it.

So what are your Top 5 Simple Pleasures right now? These things change as time rolls by - I know mine have and probably will do again so it's good to take a measure of how things are in the now. Call it a new-fashioned way of counting your blessings.
To join in simply write your own post on your own blog and then come back here and linky it up. I'll be around to visit right after this G&T and five more episodes of Breaking Bad.
