I know, I know. It's the new big thing.
It's amazing, it's beautiful, it's fun, it's popular, it's.....not for me.
I've tried it. Look I even have a 'Follow me on Pinterest' button over there ---------->
Although not for much longer of course. Because to be perfectly honest I've been finding it a chore. Something that I 'ought' to keep up with because everyone else loves it. But the truth is I'm just not feeling it.
Whereas I could spend all day browsing and uploading to Instagram, bantering on Twitter or blog hopping around my favourite or newly discovered blogs, Pinterest leaves me with that slightly sick feeling in my stomach like you get when you've just watched Big Fat Gypsy Wedding or read a copy of 'Chat' that you couldn't avoid in the local hairdressers. And yes it's filled with beautiful and interesting things but there are too many beautiful and interesting things so I either come away feeling dissatisfied with my home that isn't filled with rooms direct from the White Company and balconies made of swimming pools, or I feel bad that I don't make bunting from vintage shirts or rainbow macaroons in a homemade gift box.
And before you run off in disgust I should say that I do however see the point if you are an artist, photographer, designer etc or the type of person to actually act on the ideas of loveliness before them, but unfortunately that aint me and I don't have enough room in my life for any more time wasting - God knows with my blog, your blog, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, et al I think I have enough to keep me occupied.
And so I bid you adieu. I'm jumping ship. Sorry, but you just weren't Pinteresting enough for me.
(*sits back and waits for abuse*)
That's interesting because my husband who is a graphic designer and photographer doesn't think it's any good for him. I think it's only for the crafters.
ReplyDeleteJust trying to get a pin it button was too much for me! Can't say I am on the pinterest train yet either. Keeping my ticket safe though. Just in cade I suddenly have a free year to enjoy, craft and redesign my house! :-)

ReplyDeleteI was reading an article recently that suggested Pinterest is very much a girly thing. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteAs ever, web 2.0 doesn't stand still. New on the block is Path. Path allows users to share stuff quickly and easily, thereby creating a dynamic timeline of one's life. Remember where you heard it first...
Thanks for the insight ... I was considering having a look at Pinterest, but it would already seem it's too complicated for my simple brain !
