Lego Duplo Read and Build - A Review

As part of the being a member of the Lego Duplo Bloggers Panel we are lucky enough to get to review some really lovely Lego products. This time we got an exclusive sneak peek of the latest just launched product called Lego Duplo 'Read and Build'.

The packs contain a story book made of strong cardboard and a selection of Lego Duplo bricks that can be used to build the animals or vehicles mentioned in the stories.

It's a lovely idea and all three of mine (aged 3, 6 and 8) were thrilled with theirs.

The lovely thing about this new Lego Duplo is that it's an activity that you do together, so whilst I read the story to the younger one he built the characters. I must say I was surprised at quite how much he enjoyed the fact that I was joining in for a change. (Way to make me feel bad Lego..).




So it's another thumbs up for Lego Duplo. And on an even better note I've since managed to persuade the 8 year old to do the reading instead of the filming so I can revert back to my usual lazy mothering technique.

Although she is getting to practice her reading whilst her little brothers build their creations so perhaps it's a bit of good mothering after all ...

Lego Duplo - My First Farm Review

As members of the Lego Duplo Blogger Panel we're lucky enough to receive little surprises through the post every so often.

This week an unexpected parcel arrived containing Lego Duplo's My First Farm set.

As you can see someone was particularly pleased.

He was soon head first in the box removing all the pieces...

I think this was the moment he discovered the tractor:

(he usually saves that face for ice cream).

With the pieces all ready to go we set to work building My First Farm

He thoroughly enjoyed finding all the pieces and letting Mum help with the tricky bits. Mum thoroughly enjoyed a bit of quality time with her boy.

The My First Farm set includes animals, a farmer, fencing, buildings, trees, flowers and of course the star of the show for my son - a tractor.

The set is recommended for 2 - 5 year olds but when the older two got home from school they got stuck into it straight away too. It is currently on special offer on Amazon for £15 but usually retails at £19.99.

So what's the verdict?

Lego Duplo - 2012 Panel and Review of Creative Sorter.

The wonderful people at Lego Duplo, in their infinite wisdom and intelligence, have asked me to be part of the 2012 blogger panel.

Yes really. I even have a badge to prove it.

What this means is that I'll be bringing you some Lego Duplo reviews over the year and will even be hosting some Lego Duplo competitions so its a win-win for me and you!

First up for review is the Lego Duplo Creative Sorter for ages 2-5:

As you can see you get a bucket filled with bricks, but also 'sorting plates' that help your child to create jungle animals. Like this:

The age range is 2 - 5 years old but all my lot got stuck into it - dragging the rest of their Duplo out too.

The set retails at £17.99 which isn't cheap, but when you consider that it is a toy that will last and last and last (not like so many expensive toys I know that end up in the bin after a few weeks, grrr), plus it's creative and educational then I guess you'd have to say it's money well spent.

And now I have some insider information for you. *Whispers* Did you know that Lego Duplo and Lego are interchangeable?? I certainly didn't. But look! It's true!

OK I'm not sure what that is either...but the point is it works

How on earth did I miss that?
